Magnesi to face Magsayo

On October 29 in Manila, Philippines, former featherweight world champion Mark Magsayo will face Italy’s Michael Magnesi in a WBC final eliminator at super featherweight, with the winner becoming the mandatory challenger for the world title.

Magsayo (28-2, 18 KOs) enters this bout after holding the WBC featherweight title before moving up to super featherweight. He has put together four consecutive wins in recent outings, including notable victories over Eduardo Ramírez and Jorge Mata, which have kept him among the division’s elite.

Magnesi (25-2, 13 KOs) currently holds the No. 2 ranking in the WBC. After suffering a last-second knockout defeat against Masanori Rikiishi, he bounced back with a win over France’s Khalil El Hadri, capturing the WBC Silver title and securing this eliminator.

The fight will decide the next challenger for the world title held by American O’Shaquie Foster, in a matchup that raises high expectations for the super featherweight division
