SILVER
It is a title established as a step towards the absolute world title. It can be contested by boxers of any nationality, who are ranked in the organization.
The first time the silver title was contested was on April 14, 2010 with the match between Justin Savi vs. Cyril Thomas in France. Canelo Alvarez, Josh Taylor, Carlos Cuadras, Callum Smith, Amir Khan and lunga Makabu have held this title.
INTERNATIONAL
It is a highly prestigious title in our organization. It’s a prelude to contesting the world crown, and obtaining it guarantees a place within the first 15 ranked fighters. It can be contested by boxers of any nationality. Fighting for this championship has been an international window for many young people who today would not possibly be at the peak of success if they had not contested this belt.
The first time the title was contested was on January 18, 1986, with the fight between Rocky Chitalada and Raúl Valdés.
YOUTH
This important title was established to boost the top young prospects of world. It can be contested by boxers of any nationality with the characteristic that boxers to contest it must not be older than 23 years.
Some of the WBC youth world champions who have conquered this belt are Samuel Peter, Krzysztof Wlodarczyk, Chad Dawson, Canelo Alvarez, Timothy Bradley, Danny Garcia, Devin Haney, among others. The first time this title was contested was in 1999 in Moscow, with the fight between Dmitri Kirilov and Christoper Denicker.
NABF
This regional title can be contested by Canadian, USA and Mexican fighters, thus winning important places in the world rankings. The NABF was established in 1968 under the leadership of Jim Deskin from Nevada and Jose Sulaiman from Mexico.
The first match for this important championship was held between Leotis Martin and Sonny Liston in June 1969.
CONTINENTAL AMERICAS
It is a regional title for boxers in the American Continent, although there have been exceptions for boxers from other regions of the world who have developed their careers on this continent.
The first fight for this championship was on May 26, 1978, between Martín Vargas and Alex Guido.
CONTINENTAL LATIN
This WBC affiliated championship is contested by boxers from the American Continent and boxers from other countries with Latino roots.
The first time this title was contested was on August 11, 2001, with the fight between Héctor “Acero” Sánchez and Baby Lorona jr.
USNBC
This title was created for North American boxers to contest, however, fighters who have developed their careers in the United States have fought for this crown. The first fight for this championship was in April 2005, between Ray Austin and Larry Donald.
