José Sulaimán Boxer’s Fund

The Jose Sulaiman Boxer’s Fund, created in 2012 by the WBC under the guidance of its lifetime president, Jose Sulaiman, is a testament to his deep care and affection for boxers.

This fund, a lasting tribute to his unwavering commitment, provides vital financial support and resources to champion boxers and those who have made significant contributions to the sport, ensuring their well-being and acknowledging their remarkable dedication within the world of boxing.

Clean Boxing Program

The World Boxing Council (WBC) is one of the most important organizations in the world of sports and was the first to institute mandatory anti-doping tests after fights to prevent damage.

The WBC’s primary objective is to take care of the health, well being  and life of the boxers, as well as to promote honest sports practices with the greatest possible precaution, eradicating the usage of prohibited substances.

What is the Clean Boxing Program?

A unique program in the world of boxing that aims to educate and warn boxers about the dangers of prohibited substances and methods, and has a comprehensive testing protocol, both in and out of competition.

The clean boxing program was born in 2016 and was initially only implemented for boxers; it was not until 2019 that it was expanded to women.
Enrollment is mandatory for the world champion and the first 15 finishers in each division and for the champions and first 5 finishers in the case of women. Any boxer can voluntarily enroll in the program.

How does it work?

VADA, which is the agency in charge of carrying out the tests, randomly selects the boxer to take the exams.

To be part of the CBP it is necessary to fill out 3 forms: Registration, Athlete Location and Therapeutic Use and send them along with a photograph to the email cbp@wbcboxing.com

The WBC was the first to institute mandatory post-fight drug testing to prevent damage.

WBC Weight Management Program

Once the boxers and their teams have confirmed a bout, the boxers must weigh themselves so that the WBC can find out what their starting weight is. Fighters and their teams are required to send their weigh-in 30, 14 and 7 days before the match.

For the 30-day pre-weigh-in, boxers do not require more than 10% of their division limit, for the 14-day boxer they do not require more than 5% and for the 7-day limit, 3%.

With the intention of avoiding over hydration, WBC applied a weighing system in the dressing room of the arena where the combat is carried out, in which the fighters do not have to weigh on the scale more than 10 % of what they marked during the official weigh-in.
