WBC super welterweight champion Sebastian “The Towering Inferno” Fundora and Chordale Booker held a virtual press conference to discuss their bout on Saturday, March 22 from the Michelob ULTRA Arena at Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino in Las Vegas.
The event, presented by PBC Championship Boxing, will stream exclusively on Prime Video in the United States and other countries.
Here’s some of what the fighters had to say:
SEBASTIAN FUNDORA
“Things change all the time. Opponents fail. Events fall through. With Booker, we’ve been training hard to make our first defense.
“I’m going to do what I always do. We’re all professional boxers trying to achieve world champion status. Here I am now. There were a couple of bumps in the road, but I’m going to keep doing what I do and train hard to do it right.
“Watching my sister dominate her division is a blessing. We both trained at the same time and pushed ourselves to the limit. To see her achieve it is a dream come true, through her actions, but it was also in my eyes.”
“I have to do what I always do: win and have a great match and do my job like always.
“The Errol Spence-Terence Crawford fights are always open. I would love to fight either of them. This division is stacked with fights, so I’m also excited for whoever we fight next.”
CHORDALE BOOKER
“He has the most unique height and reach in the division, so we brought him into high sparring and higher punches on the bag. It’s a strange move in boxing, hitting that high.
“I’ve watched his fights because I want to see what he’s good at and what punches he likes to throw. I’m prepared to do whatever it takes to win. Contrary to what fans believe, that I just show up, I’m here to win. I take risks. “That’s why I have a loss, because I moved up to 160.
“This fight is for the ages. It’s a dream come true. To be able to fight for a world title is amazing, and on Amazon Prime! Every time I think about it, it gives me chills. I worked so hard and we’re finally here.
“There’s nothing bigger that I could do. At this point in my life, I don’t have kids or a wife, so there’s nothing bigger that I could do for my personal goals than to win this world title. This is the best thing I could do and it would mean everything to me and my community. Coming back as a world champion would be everything I couldn’t do for the youth of Stamford, Connecticut.”
