Zurdo  right as reign for Green and Gold glory

Gilberto Ramirez was a special guest on “Coffee Tuesday,” outlining the great commitment of fighting Marcus Browne for the interim WBC light heavyweight title.

 WBC President Mauricio Sulaiman mentioned that this fight was ordered due to the inactivity of the division, as world champion Artur Beterbiev has had problems defending his crown , having tested positive for COVID-19 during the camp training, as well as other pandemic-related restrictions that have delayed it. He clarified that at this time the fight is in a period of free negotiations with a deadline of February 5 and if an agreement is not reached, it will go to bids. 

 Mauricio is very enthusiastic about this fight, as he recalled when his father Don José Sulaimán saw Gilberto fighting, as a child and years later,  when he was crowned youth champion of the WBC, he predicted that this “boy” would become WBC champion.

 This emotional memory outlined a smile in Gilberto, who was clear in saying that this fight is a dream come true, so he is training hard for this.

“I feel very excited and motivated, I have always felt part of the WBC and I owe that to Don José, who always treated me with special affection and who since he met me told me that I would be world champion. Today,  I have that great opportunity and I assure you that I am not going to let it go, because I owe it to him, to my people and to myself.”

 Viz the date of the fight and the venue, nothing has yet been defined, but he says he`s looking for it to take place in Mazatlán, his land. Gilberto Ramírez is promoted by his own company, Zurdo Promotions.

 Focused on this commitment, Gilberto thanked the WBC for the opportunity to make his dream come true and with all great conviction and assured confidence , he declared that Mexico and the World Boxing Council will have a new and proud champion.
