The World Boxing Council (WBC) and its president, Mauricio Sulaimán, express their deepest sorrow and sadness over the unfortunate passing of Vladimir Laptev, President of the CIS, Slavic and Baltic Countries Boxing Bureau (CISBB), one of the most respected continental federations affiliated with the WBC.
Vladimir Laptev was a dedicated and passionate leader who consecrated his life to boxing, playing a fundamental role in the development and promotion of the sport throughout his region. Under his leadership, the CISBB became an essential platform for the growth of emerging talents, organizing high-quality championships and maintaining a commitment to the safety and well-being of boxers.
Laptev was previously recognized as the “Person of the Year” of the World Boxing Council during the organization’s 53rd Annual Convention held in Kunming, China. The award was presented by WBC President Mauricio Sulaimán.

The global boxing family has lost a great friend and a valuable collaborator. Laptev’s work was crucial in extending the values and prestige of the WBC in the nations that form the CISBB, strengthening the bonds of our global community.
The WBC sends its most sincere condolences to the family of our beloved Vladimir, to his loved ones, and to the entire CISBB community during this time of great loss. His legacy of commitment and hard work will endure forever.
