The World Boxing Council straw-weight champion, Filipino Melvin Jerusalem, will make the first defense of his title against the Mexican Luis “Flechita” Castillo, this coming Sunday, September 22 at the Mandaluyong City Gymnasium in the Philippines.

Melvin Jerusalem, 30 years old, has a record of 22 wins, three losses and 12 knockouts. He became the WBC strawweight champion by defeating Japanese Yudai Shigeoka by decision.

Castillo, 27 years old, is an undefeated fighter with 21 wins as a professional, with one draw and 13 knockouts. The undefeated Mexican will have the first opportunity in his career to fight for a world crown.
