Serhii Bohachuk’s knockout resume speaks for itself. It’s punctuated with courage and determination, resolve and resolution which earned him the opportunity of a lifetime to face former world champion Brian Mendoza for the WBC Interim Super Welterweight World Championship on March 30. The best test performance of Bohachuk’s career to date, and he earned a lopsided decision victory over the world contender.
One of the most dangerous fighters of this era of boxing, undefeated world title contender Vergil Ortiz Jr. boasts a 100 percent knockout rate. He broke into and then tore into the super welterweight division with a first-round knockout of Ghanaian warrior Fredrick Lawson on January 6 and followed it up with a first-round knockout of Thomas Dulorme on April 27.
Also, Cecilia Braekhus, will face Maricela Cornejo for the interim WBC super welterweight title. Braekhus, is considered among the finest welterweight fighters of all time and held world titles from 2009 until 2020, when she lost to Jessica McCaskill. Cornejo is 3-0 since losing to Clarissa Shields in 2023.
The card is presented by Golden Boy Promotions in association with 360 Promotions and TGB Promotions. It will take place at the Michelob ULTRA Arena at the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino in Las Vegas, on Saturday, August 10, 2024.
