Former world champion Danny “Swift” Garcia and contender Jose Benavidez Jr. are good and ready for their super-welter clash this Saturday, at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.
“It’s been 19 months since I’ve been in the ring, and I’ve been enjoying my life. I have spent time with my family, but I have kept in shape. I trained with young guys Chris Colbert and Stephen Fulton Jr. To be honest, I feel like I never left,” Danny Garcia said adding: “We had a tremendous training camp in Philly. We have done everything we were supposed to do, and my body feels great. I knew I was hitting 154 pounds, so I built more muscle. But the most important thing is that I feel good mentally.”
Benavidez declared:
“I’m ready. I feel strong and I’m happy to be here. It’s exciting to be fighting in this great arena. I’m ready to show the world that it’s me who weighs 154 pounds.
“I’m the biggest guy at this weight. I am confident, I am strong, and I am ready. This is a new and improved me. No one is going to beat me.
“I don’t have to look impressive. I will show what I am. I am a beast. I know where my talent is and I’m going to make it look easy.”
This fight is organized by Premier Boxing Champions and will be televised on Showtime.
