WBC Presents two Revolution Evolution Belts

The World Boxing Council officially unveiled two new Belts, at Hotel Andaz in Colonia Condesa, Mexico City- one was the new Generation Six Green and Gold Belt for Absolute Champions and the second was the Aztec Belt to commemorate the eternal memory of ”El Magnifico” Israel Vazquez, which will be awarded to the victor of Isaac ”Pitbull” Cruz Vs Angel Fierro.

The Guest List was a Who`s Who of Boxing Royalty in Mexico, namely: Ruben Olivares, Humberto ”Chiquita” Gonzalez, Marco Antonio Barrera, Jackie Nava, Pipino Cuevas, Carlos Zarate, Carlos Cuadras, Rafael ”Bazooka” Limon, Mariana ”Barby” Juarez, Francisco ”Bandido” Vargas, Carlos Cuadras, Irma Garcia, Yessica Nery Plata, Esmeralda Moreno, Marilyn Badillo and Erik Ortiz. Plus Jesus Mena, Horacio de la Vega, Ing Fernando Espino, Oksana Dramarestka Ambassador of Ukraine in Mexico, Juan Carlos Pelayo, Alberto Reyes and Carlos Mercenario.

The Aztec Belt will be for the winner of Cruz Vs Fierro, two Mexican fighters who are known for a best foot forward two-fisted attack. Every time when two Mexicans fight, it`s so very special, ferocious and almost ethereal, because national and local pride are at stake. A film which was absolutely breathtaking and stunning, showed this fabled history of rivalry. This Belt will be to honor the memory of Israel Vazquez who died of cancer on December 3rd. His widow and three children who will be at the Cruz Vs Fierro crescendo fight, will present it to the winner.

Ruben Olivares got up and said it had been an honor to fight for the WBC Belt. He was wearing his trademark bobble hat and also a jacket emblazoned with the name of Muhammad Ali, who he said had been such a good friend. When it was his turn to stand up, Carlos Zarate said his fight with Alfonso had been beautiful and memorable. When asked Rafael Limon said a fight between two Mexicans was a bit more lucrative, putting money in both their pockets. Francisco”Bandido” Vargas said two compatriots swapping leather is unique, the training is more intense with an all-Mexican rivalry, as both leaving everything in the ring on fight night and just that little bit more special than fighting against a foreign national, which isn`t quite… the same.

Miguel Jurado of Imperio De Metal, whose company makes belts for the WBC with brilliant, innovative and unique craftsmanship explained the plaque on this Generation Six Belt is bigger. It includes the additional flags of Saudi Arabia, Palestine, Puerto Rico and The Vatican. The flag of each nation is individually hand painted.

He said: ”It`s our special work and so very important for us and that all the flags are included in order for unity.

”For this New Generation Six Belt, the process took one year, because we had to many proofs involving the flags and the complete belt itself, striving for perfection. We had to start, finish and then wait, in order to paint fresh colors of national flags with the most delicate brush strokes.

”My grandfather founded and established the company. We now have sixty- five specialists working for us. This is a unique masterpiece. It`s not possible to put a price on it, because of what it signifies and the effort plus skills involved in winning it. For a special champion, a so special process.”

World Boxing Council President Mauricio Sulaiman explained that this new Generation Belt, compliments the developments and achievements and progression of The Sport, saying: ”Boxing has evolved throughout the years and it has been through the WBC participation. The creation of new rules, of so many protocols to protect the fighters, to make Boxing safter and more just. So, this is a new step in the right direction.

”It is the dream of every boxer to win the Green and Gold Belt and that is why we always have to be in the service of the boxers, always taking care of their needs before, during and after the championship years. You have to be the best of the best to become a World Champion.”
