At the WBC Martes de Café, the commemorative belt “Nahui Huey Altepemeh” was officially presented, honoring Tlaxcala 2025 with a fusion of art, tradition, and sporting excellence. This belt will be contested in September during the fight between Saúl “Canelo” Álvarez and Terence Crawford.
The creation of the belt involved Guadalupe Xicohténcatl, who painted symbols of Tlaxcalan cosmology on leather:
“I want to thank you for the opportunity to showcase something so wonderful. I represented my country through art,” she said.
Jaqueline España contributed 70 Talavera pieces in pink and yellow tones with 10-carat gold details:
“Each piece created for the belt is the result of a meticulous process where color, texture, and shape represent artisanal tradition and the energy of boxing. The pieces in this collection combine the Talavera technique. I want to express my deepest gratitude to the World Boxing Council for trusting our tradition and being part of this project.”
Deputy Emilio de la Peña, president of the Sports Commission of the Tlaxcala State Congress, celebrated the collaboration:
“We are very happy to be here. I want to thank the members of the Council. Tlaxcalans are passionate about boxing and very excited that this edition is in the name of Tlaxcala. This collaboration will always be proactive.”
The “Nahui Huey Altepemeh” belt reflects Tlaxcala’s cultural richness and its connection to boxing, becoming a unique symbol of pride and sporting tradition.
