The WBC’s Day of the Dead commemorative belt, designed by Francisco Salanueva, winner of the TalentPitch Flow of Designers, was presented during the interim title fights Vergil Ortiz Jr. vs. Erickson Lubin in Texas and Gabriela “La Bonita” Sánchez vs. Tamara De Marco in Puebla, Mexico.
On a memorable night, Vergil Ortiz Jr. claimed the belt after knocking out Lubin in the second round, while in Puebla, the Sánchez vs. De Marco bout ended without a winner after an accidental cut led to a technical draw in the second round.
Salanueva’s design was chosen from over 50 submissions for its originality and powerful fusion of Mexico’s Day of the Dead tradition with the spirit of world boxing, creating a piece rich in symbolism and emotion.
TalentPitch, a platform that connects creatives and professionals through short AI-powered videos, partnered with the WBC to launch the Flow of Designers—a challenge inviting artists to reinterpret the iconic green and gold belt.
The result was a heartfelt tribute to two of Mexico’s greatest passions: boxing and Día de Muertos. Featuring a golden skull centerpiece, a marigold crown, and details in purple and gold, the design embodies strength, transformation, and glory.
More than a trophy, this belt symbolizes the immortal spirit of the fighter—one who battles, transcends, and lives forever in the hearts of the people.
Fans and creators are encouraged to follow WBC and TalentPitch social media, where new “Flows” and creative challenges will soon be announced, celebrating the union of art, culture, and sport.
