The Project’s creator and coordinator is the Military Police Mr. Walmor Silva De Souza.
The UPP FIGHT began with the implementation of the UPPs in the State of Rio De Janeiro, through a new public security policy, aimed at bringing residents and Military Police closer together.
This Project has been in existence for approximately 10 years, and has been in one of the largest favelas in the world and the largest in Brazil, the Community da Rocinha, for over 5 years.
The Project has Ring, weight training equipment, physical preparation for high performance athletes. Boxing classes are given to the general public, from children to adults, as a way of social inclusion, offering free training courses for boxing coaches recognized by the CNB and FPERJ.
This project has boxing students (children and adults); boxing amateur athletes; formed boxing coaches and professional boxing athletes.
Project students actively participate in State, National and International boxing competitions and events.
*UPP is the acronym for “Pacifying Police Unit” and is part of a policy implemented by the Government of Rio de Janeiro, as of 2008, with the objective of combating and disrupting organized crime in drug trafficking in communities and favelas of Rio de Janeiro.
One of the great achievements of the UPP FIGHT Social Project was the training of students who also became Military Police.
The UPP FIGHT has as Physical Trainer the Military Police Mr. Rodrigo Cerqueira De Albuquerque.
We are grateful for all the support that Major Mr. Marcelo Pereira Alves, responsible for the UPP, has been giving to the UPP FIGHT Project.
