The spirit of giving was on full display yesterday as WBC Cares, alongside The Graff Lab, TORKLAW, and Coach Daysi, hosted a heartfelt holiday toy and food giveaway for the Pico Union community in Los Angeles. The event delivered meaningful support and festive joy to hundreds of local families during the holiday season.
Thanks to the generous donation of Senator Maria Elena Durazo, more than 100 food boxes were distributed, along with over 200 toys donated by TORKLAW for children in attendance. Families began arriving early and were welcomed by vibrant folklórico dancers, setting a celebratory tone, while jolly jumpers provided nonstop entertainment for the children throughout the day.
A highlight of the event was the presence of distinguished members of the World Boxing Council family. WBC World Champion LA Cobra Ruiz, WBC World Champion Ricardo Sandoval, and WBC Champion Mark Magsayo were joined by boxing prospects Gloria Munguilla and Abel Alba Jr., who personally assisted in distributing gifts, posing for photos, and spending time with families—creating unforgettable memories for both children and parents alike.
The event also marked a special moment for the WBC, as The Graff Lab unveiled a dedicated WBC mural, now proudly displayed at the corner of Venice Boulevard and Union Boulevard. The mural stands as a lasting tribute to the WBC’s commitment to community service, unity, and positive impact beyond the ring.
This holiday initiative was a powerful example of how boxing, community leaders, and local organizations can come together to make a difference. The success of the event reflects the shared mission of WBC Cares and its partners to uplift communities and bring hope, joy, and support to those who need it most.
Merry Christmas to the Pico Union community from the WBC family.
