
The World Boxing Council has officially confirmed that British Josh Padley (15-0-0, 4 KOs) has been cleared to challenge American Shakur Stevenson (22-0-0, 10 KOs), WBC lightweight champion.
The British Boxing Board of Control (BBB of C) has given the medical approval to Padley, who was training for a fight and is ranked number 12 by the WBC.
Shakur was set to face Floyd Schofield, who withdrew from the fight citing health problems.
Padley, 29, comes into this fight after defeating his compatriot Mark Chamberlain (16-1, 12 KOs) by unanimous decision.
