In 2014, the World Boxing Council formalized one of its most important alliances in Mexico with the firm intention of promoting the development of sport, specifically running and boxing.
With the firm intention of promoting health, good habits and exercise, the WBC has partnered with Emoción Deportiva, an organization dedicated to creating the best experiences by developing the best sporting events in Mexico.
For this reason, both teams designed a project to create the José Sulaimán Race of Champions, with the purpose of remembering, honoring and recognizing the legacy of our beloved Don José and also organizing one of the first 6km and 12km races of the year in Mexico to remind us all of the importance of physical exercise.
Since 2014, year after year, more than 1,500 runners have participated, a number that has continued to increase, since it is more than interesting to have the opportunity to run alongside people’s favorite world champions. Characters such as Julio César Chávez, Humberto “Chiquita” González, Marco Antonio Barrera, Jackie Nava, Mariana Juárez, David Picasso, Miguel Berchelt, Evander Holyfield, Roberto Durán have participated in this race.
The World Boxing Council and Emocion Deportiva, are proud to be able to continue with this already traditional race in Mexico City, as due to the pandemic it could not be carried out in 2020 and 2021; however, we are confident that our return, now in midyear, to the running world with this year’s Eighth Race of Champions will be a resounding success.
The World Boxing Council is honored to be able to work hand in hand with a serious, dedicated and professional company that takes care of the smallest details during the 6km and 12km length of both editions. If you have not had the opportunity to participate in one of these events, we recommend that you register for the 8th Race of Champions on May 29.
