This year the World Boxing Council celebrates 60 years of its creation and we remember great events and fights that have formed our history.
On April 14, 1973 in the Monumental Bullring of Monterrey, Nuevo León, Mexico, a thriller took place and without a doubt the best of that year.
The fight between the Mexicans Rafael Herrera and Rodolfo Martínez for the vacant bantamweight championship of the World Boxing Council, was considered by many experts as the Fight of the Century.
The match was won by Rafael by technical knockout in 12 rounds. Martinez was knocked down twice in the fourth round and twice in the eleventh. Rafael Herrera went to the canvas in the eighth.
