Undisputed Super Lightweight World Champion, English Chantelle Cameron, will stake her titles when she faces the undisputed lightweight champion, the Irish Katie Taylor, next Saturday, May 20, at the 3Arena in Dublin, Ireland.
Taylor will have the chance to become the undisputed two-division world champion if she defeats Cameron in a historic homecoming fight at Dublin’s 3Arena.
Irish legend Taylor (22-0, 6 KOs) is fighting in Ireland for the first time in her professional career, as she looks to create even more history and further cement herself as the best fighter on the planet when she takes on Cameron.
Northampton’s Cameron (17-0, 8 KOs) achieved her lifelong dream by beating American Jessica McCaskill for the undisputed crown at 140lbs at the Etihad Arena in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, last November.
Both warriors were face to face in the final press conference of this great fight. This was some of what they discussed:
Chantelle Cameron:
“I’ve seen a number of Katie fights. She’s had very close fights where she’s won. We worked very hard in training camp to leave no doubts in the ring.
“If something is not in my control. I just have to make sure I do what I know I can do. As much as it’s a huge task ahead, I have to make sure I get a convincing win.”
Katie Taylor:
“This fight, regardless of where it is, has the makings of a great war. Stylistically, it’s going to be fantastic. Very exciting fight.
“It’s amazing when you’re there, all the crowd, all the noise, the only voice you focus on is the voice of your coach. It was like that at Madison Square Garden. I didn’t even notice the crowd around me. You’re only focused on one voice. I think it will be the same on Saturday.”
