
Former world champion, José “Bolivita” Uzcategui, will fight undefeated Mexican ex -champion David “Red Flag” Benavidez, in a super middle WBC elimination bout on Saturday, August 28, in a card to be held in the Phoenix Suns Arena, Arizona.
Uzcategui, who trains in Tijuana, Baja California, is well aware of the importance, proportions and significance of this eliminatory fight.
José Uzcategui (31-4, 26 KOs) reigned as IBF super middleweight champion since March 2018, when he defeated former champion Andre Dirrell, before losing it by decision, to reigning champion Caleb Plant in 2019. In his most recent fight, he defeated Mexican Jaime Hernández by knockout in the second round last June.
Benavidez (24-0, 21 KOs) will have his second fight back since he lost his WBC super- middleweight title on the scale in August last year. In his most recent bout, he defeated American Ronald Ellis by TKO in the eleventh round, last March in Uncasville, Connecticut.
