Usyk`s heavyweight debut this weekend

Former unified cruiserweight  champion, Ukrainian Oleksandr Usyk, will debut as a heavyweight, facing undefeated American, Tyrone Spong (14-0 13 KOs), on  Saturday October 12 at the Wintrust Arena in Chicago, Illinois, in combat that will be transmitted by DAZN.

Usyk will fight for the first time in 2019. For Usyk (16-0, 12 knockouts) this moment comes almost five months later than planned, due to some minor injuries that afflicted him.

For the 2012 Olympic gold medalist of Ukraine, his return to the ring will mark his first fight, since knocking out Tony Bellew in the eighth round last November. This victory was the end of a fantastic campaign in 2018, where the Ukrainian champion won the World Boxing Super Series cruiserweight tournament and unified the four world titles of the 200-pound division, after defeating Marco Huck , Mairis Briedis and Murat Gassiev.

Tyrone Sponge, 33, will arrive to the fight after defending his WBC Latino title last December, defeating Ytalo Perea.
