World Boxing Council super featherweight champion, Mexican Miguel “Alacran” Berchelt, is doubling up for the 6th defense of his belt.
“Alacran” Berchelt (36-1-0, 32 ko’s) will face American Jason Sosa (23-3-4, 16 ko’s) on Saturday, November 2, in Carson, California, in a card presented by Top Rank , Zanfer and Max Boxing Promotions that will be transmitted in Mexican territory by Azteca 7, the Boxing House and globally by ESPN.
Berchelt is putting himself through double training session in Hermosillo, with the careful and watchful supervision of renowned trainer Alfredo Caballero. In the morning, he performs the physical conditioning stage, with running sessions and aerobic routines, and in the afternoon he works at the gym, focused on the fight plan.
There`s also the sparring with Jesus Quijada, Daniel Lugo, Bryan Acosta and Pedro Campa.
Berchelt represented by Max Boxing CEO, Mario Abraham and co-promoted with Zanfer Promotions of Fernando Beltran looks great and will try to notch another notable defense and then on to Oscar Valdez.
“I feel phenomenal, we are at a great point of preparation and everything is going great. The training plan of my coach Alfredo Caballero has been fulfilled one hundred percent and the results are evident. I have no doubts about victory on November 2, because I want the big names. I want to face champions. I want to fight Oscar.”
Sosa, meanwhile, after losing two consecutive fights in 2017 to elite boxers Vasyl Lomachenko and Yuriorkis Gamboa, has won his three most recent fights, over Reynaldo Blanco, Moisés Delgadillo and Haskell Lydell Rhodes.
The coach of Berchelt is keenly aware of the potential danger of Jason Sosa, and therefore they have carried out an arduous and demanding training program both physically and tactically.
“We have to work hard on the strength and condition of Berchelt, because Sosa will extend him. We have to keep up the fight pace from the first to the last round, maintaining the initiative. The work program is going perfectly, and Miguel is responding wonderfully. He will peak at 100% in every way,” promised Alfredo Caballero.
