On December 19 at the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas, Mexican Saúl “Canelo” Álvarez will face the British Callum Smith, in a super middleweight extravaganza.
Guiding these two master blasters are two maestros. There`s Mexican Eddy Reynoso who`s worked with Saul Alvarez for more than a decade. Eddy, along with his father José Chepo Reynoso, has dedicated his life to preparing boxers, working with champions of the quality, namely, Óscar “Chololo” Larios, Javier “Chatito” Jáuregui, Oswaldo “Gallito” Novoa, Víctor “Vikingo” Terrazas, Rigoberto “Spanish” Álvarez, among others.
He was recognized in 2019 by the American Boxing Writers Association as the best trainer. Currently, in addition to training with “Canelo”, he works with Andy Ruiz, Luis “Pantera” Nery, Oscar Valdez, Ryan García and other important prospects.
“We are a disciplined team that are always ready for great challenges. On December 19 Canelo will face the best of 168 pounds. What we want in our career is to keep moving forward and fight with the best. We’re going to have a great fight,” Reynoso said.
British Joe Gallagher, began his approach to boxing as an amateur fighter in his youth. He found his true calling in 1993 when he became a trainer of amateur fighters; later in 2001 he began to train professionals.
Joe has Anthony Crolla, Scott Quigg, Matthew Macklin, John Murray, Natasha Jonas, the Smith brothers, Stephen, Paul, Liam and Callum, among many more. As a coach he has participated in more than 300 professional fights and 100 world title fights. In 2018, Joe has established the Joe Gallagher Academy in Manchester.
“We’ve worked hard towards this. It’s a huge opportunity. It’s the biggest fight in world boxing since lockdown. I can’t wait to get in there and show everyone what I’ve thought he’s capable of.” said Gallagher.
