32-year-old German Tina Rupprecht was crowned unified atom champion, defeating previously undefeated Japanese Sumire Yamanaka on points in an exciting fight at the MBS Arena in Potsdam.
In front of 2,500 spectators, a balanced exchange of blows unfolded from the start. Rupprecht, who stands just 1.53 meters tall and is nicknamed “Tiny Tina,” was quick on her feet and the more active boxer overall. Her Japanese opponent launched a few counterattacks. But in the end, Rupprecht prevailed thanks to her greater variability.
It was an exciting fight until the final bell.
Tina had already achieved something historic in German boxing with the unification of the WBO, WBA, and WBC titles last fall. For Rupprecht, it was his 15th victory in 17 fights.
