Thrilla in Manila: 50th Anniversary with a Major WBC Card in the Philippines
On October 1, 2025, the 50th anniversary of the historic “Thrilla in Manila” will be celebrated — the epic third battle between Muhammad Ali and Joe Frazier, held in 1975 in the Philippine capital and regarded as one of the most grueling and memorable nights in boxing history.
To commemorate this milestone, Manila will host a major WBC card, bringing together champions and international prospects under one roof.
In the main event, minimumweight world champion Melvin Jerusalem will defend his title against Siyakholwa Kuse from South Africa in a voluntary defense that promises action from the opening round.
The event will also feature other bouts for WBC International titles:
- Albert Francisco vs Ramel Macado Jr. – WBC International Flyweight Title
- Eumir Marcial vs Ainiwaer Yilixiati – WBC International Middleweight Title
- Arvin Magramo vs Berland Robles – WBC International Minimumweight Title.
Beyond the belts at stake, the card aims to honor one of the most legendary nights in boxing history while promoting new Filipino and international talent, solidifying Manila as one of the sport’s historic venues under the WBC banner.
