The 29-year-old Diego “Chico” Corrales, courageous world champion in two divisions and remembered for his great fights, died on May 7, 2007 in a motorcycle accident in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Diego had a big punch and an even bigger heart, is remembered for recovering from two brutal knockdowns in the tenth round to knock out Mexican Jose Luis Castillo in one of the wildest fights in boxing history.
This outright WAR took place in May 2005, exactly two years before the night of his death.
Corrales was born in Sacramento, California, but was a Las Vegas resident. He won his first 33 fights and faced great rivals such as Floyd Mayweather Jr., Joel Casamayor, Joshua Clottey, Acelino Freitas, among others.
