The wait is over, as the long awaited Fight Week of the decade ahead of the showdown between Saúl “Canelo” Álvarez and Terence “Bud” Crawford, which will take place at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas on Saturday, September 13, is here. The celebration of boxing will be coast to coast as the World Boxing Council will proudly host its first-ever fight night watch party at the Fitler Club in Philadelphia.
Some of the outstanding guests in attendance will be former Undisputed WBC Middleweight Champion and local legend Bernard Hopkins, current WBC Super Featherweight World Champion Stephen Fulton Jr., and former WBC light welterweight and welterweight champion Danny Garcia, among others.
This will be a special evening that will not only showcase two of the best fighters of their generation in action but will also include a silent auction benefiting the José Sulaimán Boxing Fund. Among the auction items included are five official WBC Mini Belts and one full-size WBC Replica World Championship Belt.
The José Sulaimán Boxers Fund is a program of the World Boxing Council (WBC) founded to financially assist boxers and former boxers who have fallen into disgrace, providing support to thousands of fighters from different countries.
José Sulaimán was passionate about protecting boxers, as he fought against apartheid and all forms of discrimination and abuse of power. A philanthropic figure whose reach went beyond sports,
The United Nations recognized Sulaimán for the efforts of an organization that continues to thrive with a worldwide reach. The Fund has awarded more than $2 million to boxers and former boxers from various countries, including Mexico, Argentina, Colombia, Spain, the United States, and the Philippines.
