The boxing family woke up to some awful news and we are terribly saddened to report that Rodney Cruz Hunt has passed away, leaving a deep void and sadness in our hearts.
Rodney Cruz was a great boxing manager and promoter. He distinctively stood out not only for his great work on the fight scene, but also for his exemplary humanism. His company always had as its highest priority the protection of the boxer, inside and outside of the ring, paying special attention to life planning after retirement as professional boxers. This quality particularly and genuinely defined and distinguished Rodney.
Rodney worked alongside Dan Goosen for many years presenting big cards. He had the great ability to work hand in hand, arm on shoulder, with all promoters and with the greatest champions due to his charisma, professionalism, work ethic, caring dedication and charm
Not only was he an excellent hard-working person, Rodney was always willing to reach out to any member of the boxing family who requested his help. Rodney was a trusted, constant and loyal friend. He was also actively involved in our WBC Cares programs. Thanks to his beloved Wife Jennifer, the WBC was able to be a part of Steve Harvey’s iconic North American show “Family Feud.”
Our President Mauricio Sulaiman, sends his sincere condolences to his Jennifer, their relatives and the hundreds of friends all around the world. Although Rodney`s departure is unexpected, leaving a deep sadness in our souls, we will do our best to remember him with affection and great joy. We will honor his memory by always working with dedication, passion, kindness empathy and professionalism.
