World Boxing Council President Mauricio Sulaimán Saldívar, and the entire WBC Family mourn the passing of Simiso Buthelezi of South Africa, who died after suffering a brain hemorrhage following a fight at the weekend.
Buthelezi fought a lightweight bout against compatriot Siphesihle Mntungwa on Sunday, but the referee stopped the fight when he appeared to shadow box an unseen opponent.
He was rushed to the hospital and put into an induced coma after it was discovered that he had a brain hemorrhage, but unfortunately he passed away.
The entire WBC family mourns this irreparable loss and we send our deepest condolences to the family of Simiso Buthelezi.
