Unfortunately, Hiromasa Urakawa has passed away due to injuries sustained in his fight against Yoji Saito on August 2 in Tokyo.
Urakawa was leading on all three scorecards when he was stopped in the eighth and final round at Korakuen Hall in the Japanese capital.
This follows the devastating news of the passing of Shigetoshi Kotari last Friday, who died from injuries sustained after his 12-round draw with Yamato Hata on the same fight card.
Following Kotari’s death, the Japanese Boxing Commission decided to change the duration of OPBF boxing matches from 12 to 10 rounds.
The WBC and its President, Mauricio Sulaimán, mourn this irreparable loss and send deepest condolences to the family and friends of the warrior Hiromasa.
Rest in Peace…
