
The World Boxing Council is in mourning, following the death of outstanding Mexican Olympic diver and medalist Carlos Girón.
Carlos died at 65 years of age, after struggling with pneumonia aggravated by a hospital bacteria, which kept him hospitalized since December.
Carlos Girón was an exceptional diver, always dedicated and with great discipline, which led him to win a silver medal at the 1980 Moscow Olympics. The WBC and its President, Mauricio Sulaimán Saldívar, send Carlos’ family and friends their deepest condolences. He leaves us marvelous and indelible memories of great achievements which honored his family and Mexico, making us forever proud of him.
