The World Boxing Council and its President, Mauricio Sulaiman Saldivar, express their deepest condolences following the passing of George Leslie Grant, who was on o Jamaica`s most distinguished sporting heroes, and best known in the boxing world as “Bunny.”

Grant was Jamaican and Central American national champion. In 1962 he defeated one of the best British fighters, Dave Charnley, to win the lightweight Commonwealth title, retaining it until 1967.

In addition to Charnley, he faced some of the best fighters of the era, including Eddie Perkins, Teo Cruz, Percy Hayles, Carlos Hernandez and Clyde Gray.
