The WBC mourns the death of our friend Avel González

Our dear friend and distinguished member of the World Boxing Council Avel González has passed away.

Don Avel, of Cuban origin, studied Agronomy there. Upon moving to Miami in the United States, he studied accounting and opened a successful office. His occupations were combined with two of his greatest passions, cooking and singing.

In the last few years he served as WBC Treasurer, always with honesty and passion for our sport.

We will always remember Avel as a loyal friend and a man dedicated to his work, but we will remember him even more as a wonderful and caring human being.

The World Boxing Council and its President Mauricio Sulaimán send our deepest condolences to the González family and friends.
