An early chance and a fleeting opportunity, to let the hair down, in the informal and relaxed setting of the traditional and very Welcome WBC Cocktail, on the eve of the Grand Inauguration of the World Boxing Council Convention, which is this year in Bangkok, Thailand.
The scene setter and scene steeler was the Pool House on the fourth floor of the sumptuous Marriott Marquis Queens Park Hotel. Magnificent cuisine, a vast array of beverages. But the conversation and boxing folklore was even better. Far and away.
Within the first hour, the place was heaving. So much so, that the only way to navigate through the throng, was to dice with chlorine, by skirting the edges of the azure pool, risking an early evening lucky dip.
A wonderful way to fulfill the social scene, plus the interaction purpose of the Convention. In a less convoluted way…to make new friends. The parting lines of Casablanca resonate, resonating that this is the start of beautiful friendship.
For most of us who’ve come from afar and so far, it’s a chance to feel at home among our people…Boxing Folk. That’s what it’s all about and surely that’s what it all entails. Happy trails.
