WBC Super Welterweight World Champion Sebastián “The Towering Inferno” Fundora will defend his crown for the third time and on this occasion against former unified world champion Keith “One Time” Thurman on Saturday, October 25, at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.
The event will feature a stellar undercard: in the co-main, two-division world champion Stephen Fulton Jr., current WBC featherweight champion, will move up to 130 pounds to challenge WBC super featherweight champion O’Shaquie Foster. Additionally, Mexican fighter Jesús “Mono” Ramos Jr. will face Shane Mosley Jr. for the WBC interim middleweight title, while Isaac “La Bestia” Lucero will open the pay-per-view with a super welterweight bout.
Fundora (23-1-1, 13 KOs) arrives in top form after a searing and then sated rivalry with Tim Tszyu. He first dethroned Tszyu in 2024 in what was called “the bloodiest fight of the year,” then TKO`ing him in the July rematch to establish himself as the man to beat at 154 pounds.
“I’m excited to get back in the ring once again, for the third time this year, and against a former champion,” said the Californian. “We are preparing very well, and you can expect a great performance from Fundora.”
Thurman (31-1, 23 KOs), who has defeated big names like Shawn Porter, Danny García, and Robert Guerrero, will seek to become a world champion in a second division and further his path to the Hall of Fame. After defeating Brock Jarvis in March, he returns to the spotlight:
“I feel honored to be back and fighting for the WBC Super Welterweight World Championship. Fundora has proven to be a tough champion to beat, but I didn’t get here to fear Everest, or in this case, Mount Fundora. I will climb that mountain on October 25 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena. David vs. Goliath, but don’t forget – I am Keith ‘One Time’ Thurman. Straight into the flames, and it will be a fight you won’t want to miss.”
With youth and height on one side, and experience and yearning hunger on the other, Fundora vs. Thurman promises to be one of the most intense battles on the 2025 calendar.
