The Interview I Never Had: The Intimate Legacy of Israel Vázquez, 15 Months After His Passing

Within the framework of the first anniversary and three months since the heartfelt passing of the eternal champion Israel “Magnífico” Vázquez, the World Boxing Council is proud to present a historic piece that transcends the ropes of the ring.

It is the inaugural installment of “The Interview I Never Had,” a personal project by Pepe Sulaimán born in 2021. This concept seeks to bare the souls of warriors, moving away from technical questions about tactics or rivals, to explore the internal strength, fears, and dreams that forged these legends.

Israel Vázquez, WBC Champion Emeritus, was responsible for recording the “pilot” of this series. In an exercise of total freedom, Pepe Sulaimán handed over the microphone and the camera so that the “Magnífico” could speak about whatever he wanted, without scripts or interruptions.
