Gabriela and Sebastián Fundora, undisputed flyweight champion and WBC super welterweight world champion respectively, were the special guests at Martes de Café, accompanied by their younger sister Fabiola and their father and trainer, Freddy Fundora.
Their presentation began with two emotional videos highlighting each sibling’s journey. Afterwards, a clip from the 62nd WBC Convention in Hamburg, Germany was shown, where the Fundoras shared their optimistic vision for 2025.

As part of the tribute, our Ambassador Josejas, along with former champions Daniel Zaragoza and “Pipino” Cuevas, presented Sebastián Fundora with the “Aztec Warrior” belt, in recognition of his brilliant performance against Tim Tszyu.
Sebastián told the media:
“I’m very happy and honored to be here.”
“After the fight, I saw Mauricio with that big smile, the kind you only get from family.
“I told my team we had to come to Mexico and celebrate with our Mexican family.”

During the event, the siblings answered questions sent in by fans through social media:
What does it mean to be a World Boxing Council champion?
Gabriela: “It’s an honor, the WBC is family.”
What’s it like to be so young and successful in boxing?
Sebastián: “It’s a dream come true, but it’s something I’ve worked hard for.”
What’s been your toughest fight, and which one did you enjoy the most?
Gabriela: “The hard work happens in the gym.”
Sebastián: “I don’t know if there’s been one in particular. You learn from your mistakes. We work hard, and that motivates me to keep going.”
Is being so tall an advantage or a disadvantage?
Sebastián: “It depends on your fighting style. Sometimes they push you around, rush you and won’t let you fight your fight. For me, it depends on who I’m facing, but overall I consider it an advantage.”
What’s the hardest part about making weight?
Gabriela: “We don’t cut weight—we eat whatever we want.”
How do you balance school and training?
Sebastián: “It’s about having a schedule. I listen to my dad a lot.”
Did you choose boxing, or did boxing choose you?
Gabriela: “Boxing chose me. I wanted to do it because my siblings were doing it.”
Sebastián: “Our dad still asks us if we want to keep boxing, and since we love the sport, the answer is always yes. Boxing has always been a part of the Fundora family.”
Last year at the Convention, you sang a song. Why did you choose it? Can you sing a piece of it now?
Gabriela: “We found it on Google, hahaha.”
Sebastián: “We’re better boxers than singers.”

At the end of the event, Freddy Fundora presented commemorative medals to figures from Mexican lucha libre, including Payasita Purasanta, Payaso Purasanta, El Hijo de Fishman, El Hijo de Máscara Sagrada, and Tinieblas Third Generation.

Additionally, Lourdes “Pequeña Lulú” Juárez took the opportunity to ask Gabriela Fundora for a chance to face her in the ring next year.
