The essential WBC super-bantamweight champion, Yamileth Mercado

This Thursday, September 30, discover everything which defines one of the current youngest world champions, Yamileth Mercado, a woman who has been characterized as a true warrior, cheerfully facing any challenge, the most recent of them involving the lioness hearted clash against Amanda Serrano, in a fight where she demonstrated her skills, grit and true intrepid bravery.

Yamileth, who, from a very young age, used to fight exhibition fights in ranches near Ciudad Cuauhtémoc. Her fighting passion was sparked, ignited and kindled by watching the fight between Jackie Nava and Ana María Torres. From that seminal moment, the path she wanted to follow was set and her ambition was to become WBC world champion-

That dream soon became an obsession and so after a distinguished amateur boxing, at only 16 years old, she made her professional debut in July 2014 and five years later Yamileth -at 21 years old- was crowned super bantamweight world champion defeating Kenyan Fatuma Zarika, in a memorable rematch.
