15-year-old amateur boxer Tadhg O’Donnell received an fabulous welcome at his school after winning a gold medal for Ireland at the European Championships.
The young amateur star won the European Junior Championship in Italy, by triumphing in the final in the 66-kilogram category. O’Donnell won every round in the eyes of all the Judges with identical scorecards of 30-27.
Tadhg, originally from the Irish city of Wicklow, returned home and to his school “Temple Carrig”, surprised to see an honor guard waiting for him at the entrance, cheering him!
The Director of Physical Education at the school, Mark Crean, organized the tribute that the young champion so enjoyed in the company of his classmates and teachers.
