
555 Media Agency, united with Bash Boxing, presented the card: Standing Up for Mental Health; A Night of Boxing, a special charity event dedicated to raise awareness about mental health in sports, at the historic Avalon Hollywood and streamed live on DAZN.
This innovative evening raised funds and sought to raise awareness through sports for mental wellness initiatives that support boxers and the community. In collaboration with Athletes for Hope and the World Boxing Council, the event will offer all participating competitors one year of free access to therapy through Athletes for Hope.
In the main event, lightweight Jonny “Magic” Mansour defeated Christian Avalos by unanimous six-round decision.
Mansour, 24, of La Mesa, California, wore a robe with the inscription “My Mom is My Hero” on the back, as his mother is battling stage four cancer. Before the fight, Mansour said he would win the fight for his mother. Mansour kept his word by putting on the best performance of his career in a difficult moment. All three judges scored the fight 60-54.
“I love you, Mom, and I just want to tell you that you’re my hero. Stay strong and we’ll get through this. I told you, I’m going to win my fight. I’m going to come home with you and we’re going to win yours. We’re going to beat cancer. Stay strong. Mom, I love you,” Mansour commented after the fight.
In other fights involving local talent, Vic Pasillas knocked out Carlos Jackson in the seventh round.
Jose Ramirez stopped Jessie Mandapat in three rounds; Ricardo Ruvalcaba defeated Luis Alberto Veron by unanimous decision.
Jonny Mansour maintained his undefeated record by defeating Christian Avalos by decision.
In women’s bouts, Brook Sibrian defeated Rubi Gutierrez by unanimous decision in six rounds; while Ivy Enriquez defeated Marlen Avila by decision.
