At the traditional “Coffee Tuesdays,” World Boxing Council President Mauricio Sulaimán, the President of FECOMBOX Juan Carlos Pelayo, the President of the Mérida Boxing Commission, Jose Manzur, the Lifetime FECOMBOX President Carlos González Hinojosa and the Vice President Omar Mintun spoke with the specialized press about the meeting they held CDMX, with prominent representatives of the country’s boxing, who have been linked to the sport for decades.
Happy with all the agreements reached in this great meeting, Mr. Sulaimán recalled that FECOMBOX was born in 1953 with the purpose of standardizing and unifying criteria and advancing together in the protection of the boxer, thanks to the constant concern of his father Don José Sulaimán for safeguarding and taking care of the health of all the boxers, but also with the purpose of working in unity and communication with all the commissions of the Mexican Republic.
The President for life recalled his arrival at FECOMBOX and how Don José instilled in him that the most important thing is health care for all boxers and that Mexican boxing works together, as the motto of FECOMBOX says. : Boxing for the glory of Mexico.
He also added that boxing is a catalyst for many young people and the sports discipline that has given our country so much glory.
For Juan Carlos Pelayo, President of FECOMBOX, it is imperative that the 78 boxing commissions work as one to be able to fight against the bad practices of the sport that unfortunately still exist.
He insisted that the main concern that unites FECOMBOX is the need to join efforts to protect the physical integrity of the fighters over any interest, but also to implement new strategies that with the help of technology, allow us to have better control of the fighters, their medical well being and their boxing activity.
The FECOMBOX representatives are convinced that this meeting will be the beginning of a new start, which will bring great opportunities and where, thanks to the collaboration of all, Mexican boxing takes a leap forward.
