“Strongfort” Vergil Ortiz Jr. to Defend WBC Interim Title Against wily Erickson Lubin

Undefeated Texan Vergil Ortiz Jr. (23-0, 21 KOs) will return to the ring on November 8, 2025, to defend his WBC interim super welterweight title against experienced Erickson Lubin (27-2, 19 KOs) in Fort Worth, Texas.

Ortiz captured the interim title in 2024 by defeating Ukrainian Serhii Bohachuk via majority decision in Las Vegas, demonstrating that his power remains intact after a long medical hiatus. Now, he seeks to solidify his position as the number-one contender for the full WBC world title.

Lubin arrives with a streak of victories and the keen sheen  of facing elite opponents such as Jermell Charlo and Sebastian Fundora. The matchup promises an explosive clash between two very hard-hitting and extremely ambitious fighters.
