Spearhead Shields successfully defends her Undisputed Heavyweight Crown
Claressa Shields once looked regal and majestic before a near-capacity crowd at Little Caesars Arena in Detroit, Michigan.
Shields successfully defended her undisputed heavyweight title with a unanimous decision victory repelling usurping challenger Lani Daniels. Shields, a two-time Olympic gold medalist and undisputed three-division champion, now has a 3-0 record at heavyweight. Shields came, saw and conquered, with 100-90 on judge Pasquale Procopio’s card, while judges Gerard White and Don Trella had it 99-91.
Shields expressed her gratitude for the support of the 16,000-strong crowd during a post-fight interview, citing Daniels’ reluctance to engage until the final stages of a tough fight.
