World Boxing Council light flyweight champion champion, Ken “The Amazing Boy” Shiro (15-0 / 8Kos), will make yet another defense of his title, against the official WBC challenger, the Filipino southpaw Jonathan “Lightning” Taconing (28-3 -1 / 22KOs).
The fight will be on July 12 at the Osaka Edion Arena in Osaka city, Japan. For Ken Shiro, it`ll be the sixth defense of the crown, which conquered in 2017 in Tokyo by defeating Mexican Ganigan “The Wonder” Lopez, whom he again overcame in the rematch, this time by a second round knockout last year.
In his most recent fight in Tokyo last December, Ken Shiro defeated Mexican Saul “Baby” Juarez.
For Tagalog Jonathan Taconig, this will be his third title opportunity for a world crown. The first one was in 2012 in Thailand when he fought for the WBC light flyweight crown against the then Thai monarch Kompayak Porpramook, losing by technical decision in the fifth round. His second World shot took place in 2016 in Mexico, at the Mexico City Arena in Mexico City, where he was defeated via unanimous decision (108-119, 109-118, 112-115) by then champion Ganigan Lopez.
