Shields wields in a decisive  manner to defeat Hammer

American Claressa Shields won  the undisputed female world middleweight  championship, defeating  German Christina Hammer by UD.

Their highly anticipated fight, was the main event of a card  at the Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City , New Jersey, United States.

Shields (9-0, 2 KOs) almost knocked out Hammer in the eighth round, but she won a unanimous decision victory, in what was one of the most important fights in the history of women’s boxing.

Shields, an Olympic gold medalist, showed her full arsenal of dominant  skills and now joins Terrence Crawford, Jermain Taylor, Bernard Hopkins, Oleksandr Usyk as well as  welterweight champion Cecilia Braekhus as the only fighters. that have unified the four main world titles in any division.

With a lot of pressure in the battle and much better strategy, Shields did what was necessary to get the victory, and even had moments where it looked likely she was going to halt  her taller opponent.

Hammer, from Dortmund, Germany, lost for the first time as a professional, leaving her record in 24-1, 11 knockouts, 1 NC.

At the end of this intense contest, the cards said it all for Shields with: 98-92, 98-92 and 98-92.
