Claressa Shields made history by being crowned WBC heavyweight champion, after knocking out former champion Vanessa Lepage-Joanisse, early in the second round, at the Little Caesar Arena in Michigan.
Shields (15-0, 3 KOs) finished the first round with a series of power combinations.
She clearly dominated the second round from the beginning, sending her rival to the canvas three times to force the referee to stop the fight at 1:09 of this round.
Shields stepped into the ring for the first time since defending her undisputed middleweight title with a unanimous decision over Maricela Cornejo just over a year ago.
