Convinced that boxing is a vehicle and a way to form good people, the WBC and the Mexican Secretary of Citizen Security announced today the Second José Sulaimán Chagnón Boxing Tournament.
The first edition consisted of several stages and its final date included 16 final with a great atmosphere at the Ring Central gym in Mexico City. Sixteen champions emerged from the tournament.
Today at Martes a Cafe, WBC President Mauricio Sulaimán and the Undersecretary of Traffic Control, Javier Moreno Montaño, announced the second edition of this important tournament that will be held in Mexico City; This is what they said:

”Today we not only celebrate the announcement of our José Sulaimán Chagnón Amateur tournament. We celebrate the values of discipline, respect and effort that this sport embodies. The tournament has been organized with the firm conviction that it is a powerful tool for social transformation.
”This is more than a competition; it is the opportunity to strengthen the ties between the community and its police. Boxing is a discipline that teaches discipline, strength, conviction and each of the participants represents these values.
”I want to thank all those responsible for making this tournament a reality. We firmly believe that sport is a link to generate positive changes and events like this are proof of that. I reiterate the commitment of the Secretary of Citizen Security to promote sports activities that strengthen our values while seeking the well-being of citizens.
”I invite all competitors to give their best, remembering that this event is a celebration of our community spirit. It is an honor for me to be here alongside so many personalities who strengthen and watch over our communities.”
World Boxing Council President Mauricio Sulaimán Saldívar, said he was honored to be able to participate for the second time in this tournament organized by the SSC and thanked all the police officers of Mexico City for their bravery and steadfast dedication, recognizing the work they do both on the streets and in the ring.
