WBC super welterweight world champion Sebastian Fundora has suffered a hand contusion during a sparring session, forcing the postponement of his scheduled title defense against former unified champion Keith Thurman, originally set for Saturday, October 25.
According to official reports, a new date for the bout will be announced soon, once Fundora’s medical team determines the time required for his full recovery.
It was also confirmed that all fans who purchased tickets for the event will receive a full refund, retroactive to the date of purchase.
Fundora, known as “The Towering Inferno,” was in the final stage of his training camp for what would have been his first WBC title defense, after capturing the belt in a thrilling battle last April. The fight with Thurman was one of the most anticipated matchups on the boxing calendar.
