On Saturday night at the G2Arena in Rzeszow, Poland, Polish Lukasz Rozanski (14-0) and Croatian Alen “The Savage” Babic (11-0) fight for the vacant World Boxing Council Bridgerweight title.
Oscar Rivas won the inaugural WBC bridger’s title by decision over Ryan Rozicki. Before his first scheduled defense against Rozanski, in Colombia, Oscar was scheduled to fight Nigerian heavyweight Efe Ajagha, but suffered an eye injury.
He previously had surgery in 2011 for a detached retina in his right eye. At thirty-five years old and after thirteen years of his professional career, he had to take a break.
Allen, a thirty-two-year-old who made a living as a nightclub bouncer for a decade before finding his calling and making it big in boxing, is five years Lukasz’s junior.
However, Lukasz, who always fought in his homeland of Poland as a professional, now has the chance of a lifetime because he is fighting this championship fight in his hometown of Rzeszow, where he was born.
Lukasz has built a 14-0 record, 13 KOs, since he turned pro in 2015. In his most recent fight, he knocked out former heavyweight contender Artur Szpilka in the first round. Early in his career, he stopped former British and EBU heavyweight champion Michael Sprott in two rounds.
Alen, nicknamed The Savage, is also undefeated with a record of 11-0, 10 KO`s. His professional debut was in 2019. His KO record was punctuated in his most recent fight against Adam Balski, in which he won the vacant WBC Silver Bridger title by decision.
“I have been waiting for this opportunity for a long time. I am going to be crowned green and gold world champion and I will do it in a great way. I am ready for a war and for everything my rival has,” commented Lukasz Rozanski.
Alen Babic said: “This is a great fight and a great event. I’m going to leave everything above the ring to win the world title. I went through a lot of preparation and a strong boot camp for the combat. I’m going to win and bring home the world title.”
The card will be presented by BOXXER in association with Knockout Promotions and will be broadcast on Sky Sports.s.
