Russell Acosta Receives NABF Belt at Martes de Café

Young fighter Russell Acosta attended the WBC’s weekly press conference, where he was presented with the NABF minimumweight belt by Mauricio Sulaimán.

Acosta captured the title on September 12 by defeating Roberto Ruiz via unanimous decision in Kanasín, Yucatán, Mexico.

During the ceremony, Mauricio Sulaimán addressed Acosta and his team:

“Ali, ‘Terrible’ Morales, Ray Leonard, and ‘Chiquita’ González were among those who once held this belt. This is the first step toward greatness, and you earned it in categorical fashion with a great fight. With much honor and emotion, I present you this belt, on behalf of the WBC, congratulations.”

Russell Acosta added: “I am very happy to be here.”
