Super flyweight champion of the World Boxing Council, Jesse “Bam” Rodríguez, will defend his title against the former world champion Srisaket Sor Rungvisai, on Saturday, June 25 at the Tech Port Arena in San Antonio, Texas, live throughout the world on DAZN, leading an action-packed card.
Rodriguez (15-0, 10 KOs) will make the first defense of the belt he impressively won in February, knocking out former world champion Carlos Cuadras to become the youngest reigning champion, with his 15 professional bouts.
“Bam” Rodríguez will face a hero of his homeland….35-year-old Sor Rungvisai (50-5-1, 43 KOs), who has a chance to win the coveted Green and Gold Belt for the third time, having won it in 2013 and then recovered it against Román “Chocolatito” González three years later.
Rodriguez and Rungvisai lead a stellar night of action with three more world title fights on the card, with Julio Cesar Martinez and McWilliams Arroyo meeting again, as their first clash ended in a NO Contest due to an accidental crack of heads.
Arroyo (21-4, 16 KOs) has been out of action since that night, while Martinez (18-2, 14 KOs) bravely faced “Chocolatito” González.
In another bout, undisputed welterweight champion Jessica McCaskill will make the third defense of her belt against an opponent yet to be named.
McCaskill (11-2 4 KOs) won the titles from the legendary Norwegian fighter Cecilia Braekhus in 2020 and defeated the crown in March 2021. In her most recent fight she knocked out Kandi Wyatt in the seventh round.
